Easter 2017

Join me starting March 17th for 30 days in the Text as we make our way to Easter Sunday. For 30 days, we will fix our eyes on Jesus as we look closely at the prophecies Jesus fulfilled during Passion Week. Each day we will look at a prophecy concerning the Messiah, and at the way Jesus fulfilled that prophecy in His death and resurrection. There is space on each page for you to document the prophecy that Jesus fulfilled, and space for you to answer the most imScreen Shot 2017-02-09 at 12.27.49 PM.pngportant question in our study: what does this teach me about the character of God. Sisters, do not be deceived: you do not need the Word of God to speak to you about you as much as you need the Word of God to speak to you about God Himself. So, commit with me to fixing your eyes on His character and to worshiping Him for who He is.
I cannot promise you it will always be easy, but I can promise you this: He will not disappoint.

screen-shot-2016-12-02-at-8-37-19-amAdvent is a season that is all about waiting. It is one of the unique times in the Christian calendar that we intentionally set aside to join in the Old Testament longings for the coming of the Christ. This holiday season, the concept of waiting has challenged me – both practically and theologically. Because, it seems, we are all waiting for something: waiting for change, waiting for the doctor to call with the results, waiting for our dreams to become reality. We’re waiting.

This Advent devotional is an invitation to wait. Each day we take a close look at a portion Luke 1 & 2, working through the Text verse-by-verse so that we don’t miss a thing. We make note of the various ways that the familiar characters of this Christmas story are waiting, and marking the ways that their waiting is drastically similar to our own. In the midst of our own waiting, we plant our feet solidly on the Word of God, knowing that everything else will disappoint us.
