Elliot’s Tangled Birthday Party

This year Eliot turned four, and she requested a Tangled birthday party. If you have a little girl who loves Rapunzel, you probably already know that this theme is full of fun possibilities!

We kept things fairly simple and focused on a few activities the girls could do together. I’ve learned over the years that kids don’t need a million things planned. A few fun games and a little imagination go a long way. It ended up being such a sweet afternoon, and Emerson was absolutely delighted.

Rapunzel’s Royal Sun Paintings

When the girls arrived, we started with art easels set up around the table.

Before the party, I drew Rapunzel’s royal sun symbol onto each canvas. In the movie, Rapunzel realizes she has been painting the sun her whole life without understanding why, so it felt like the perfect way to begin the party.

Instead of regular paint, we used paint pens to keep the mess manageable. Each girl colored in the sun and added their own little details.

When everyone finished, I told the girls how creative they were, just like Rapunzel. As their reward, each girl received a braided Rapunzel headband to take home. They were thrilled.

The “Tangled Up Hair” Game

Next we played a game we called Tangled Up Hair.

The girls divided into small teams. Each team picked one person to be Rapunzel, and the rest of the team used yellow streamers to wrap her up in “hair.” It was hilarious! The girls took their job very seriously and used a shocking amount of streamers. My one regret is that we didn’t recruit the dads ahead of time to play Flynn Rider and let the girls tangle them up. They would have absolutely loved that.

The Frying Pan Piñata

After that we moved outside for the piñata. In true Tangled fashion, the girls didn’t use a bat. They used a frying pan. This was easily the highlight of the party. The girls thought it was the funniest thing ever and were cheering each other on the whole time.

When the candy finally spilled everywhere, the excitement level was very high!

Cupcake Decorating

Our last activity was decorating cupcakes. Each girl received a cupcake on a small artist’s paint palette. The center tray held the cupcake, and the smaller sections held different toppings. We filled them with mini M&Ms, Nerd clusters, and a few edible flowers I found on Amazon. The girls loved getting to design their own cupcakes, and it was a fun way to wind down the party.

A Free Customizable Printable Banner

I made a Rapunzel themed banner that I printed and cut out! If you’re throwing a similar themed birthday party, feel free to use this link to customize your banner and print it! Be sure to use cardstock and a hole punch, then just string it up!

A Very Happy Rapunzel

All in all, it was such a fun celebration. Four feels like such a sweet age. Emerson was delighted by every little detail, and watching her enjoy the afternoon with her friends was the best part.
