Many of us want to get into scripture every single Many of us want to get into scripture every single day. But the holidays can make it feel extra difficult. There are additional challenges that we face during the holiday season, extra events that pull our attention away from regular routines, and so much more! For the woman who wants to make spending time with God a priority this season, here are three tips that might help.

1) turn your “should do” into a “get to”. Do you approach God‘s word and making daily time to read scripture with guilt? Do you feel guilty when you don’t get it done each day? Is it just another item on your to do list? All of these reveal a heart posture towards God‘s word that believes it reading scripture is something that we should do, not something that we get to do. But the best thing that we can do for ourselves is to spend time with God each day! Think of reading scripture like your own self-care, a way that you nurture the things that are most important for you: your relationship with God.

2) make a schedule that serves you well in the season. Perhaps, reading scripture has always been a part of your evening routine, but if this season feels extra distracting, an extra busy with extra holiday things, perhaps considered choosing a different time of day. Just for the season of advent, consider what would serve you well, and then do your best to stick to it. For me, the advent season feels extra special when I get to wake up before my girls, spending time in God’s word, coffee in hand, all by the light of the Christmas tree.

3) find an advent resource that will guide you, but that doesn’t feel like a burden to you. Some advent been reading plans are very cumbersome, if I’m honest. I don’t enjoy them! If I get one day behind, I feel like the entire month is thrown off. So I let go of the expectation that I would do one of these plans and opted for something that is simple and straightforward. The @biblestudyschoolhouse studies are written just for this reason. They’re only five days a week, and short enough that I can do two days in one if I want. They’re also just four weeks (20 days total) so I have margin to skip a day or dig even deeper if I want to.
The holidays feel nostalgic for most of us, but if The holidays feel nostalgic for most of us, but if we’re honest they also feel a wee bit chaotic. Do you need help focusing on God’s Word in this season? Here’s a resource you should know about!

The Quiet Time Companion gives you just enough structure for your daily quiet time with prayer prompts and the ability to track what you’re reading and learning! Its not a journal with a hundred questions to answer every day (that’s over doing it) but gives you exactly the right number of prompts to help you stay rooted in the Word and anchored in prayer. The structure helps me focus when everything around me is just a bit more distracting. I love the “today I’m thankful for” section especially in this season because it reminds me that there’s always room to foster gratitude. 🎄

I’m using AND gifting this QTC this Christmas. And @wholeheartedquiettime is having a sale! Grab all their journals for 25% off with code BLACKFRIDAY25 ✨
