If you want to be done giving up on your Bible stu If you want to be done giving up on your Bible study routine, here’s are three things NOT to do!👇 1️⃣ DON’T dive into the deep end. If you’re new, at reading the Bible, my recommendation is actually not to start in Genesis! Start in the gospel of mark, or a simple New Testament book like the book of James. These are practical, and a bit more straightforward. 2️⃣ DON’T set unrealistic goals like reading an hour each day. This would be like going from 0 to 60! Start small. Make it your goal to read for five minutes and pray for five minutes each morning five days a week. See where that gets you. 3️⃣ DON’T study alone! Get a pal and read together. Move slowly! Just a few verses and day, and then talk with your friend about what you’ve read.
The excitement that hits the first day I get to st The excitement that hits the first day I get to start working on a new Bible study project! I’m flying high this week! After studying for about six months on a passage that I thought would be a good fit for a @biblestudyschoolhouse Bible study, today, I finally put pen to paper. Or, more honestly, my fingers hit the keyboard! I’m not quite ready to share with the project is just yet, but do you have any guesses? What do you hope it is?
I have an embarrassing confession to make🥵 Whe I have an embarrassing confession to make🥵 When I graduated from seminary, I honestly thought that Bible study tools or four weak Bible study students. 😵‍💫😫 I thought they were simplistic helps for those who didn’t know how to study God’s word for themselves. But I now see what an immature perspective it was! 😅 In every season of my life, I have needed some sort of help in studying God’s word more deeply. I am so much better for the tools that I have used! And honestly? How silly to think that having a tool teach you was a sign of immaturity when I had just benefited so much from using study tools in seminary! Honestly, laughable 😂 But if we’re honest, there is a glut of Bible study resources out there, and they are not all created equal! We want good resources that help us dive into God’s word in a way that honors the biblical text and glorifies God! We want help applying God’s word to our everyday lives, but we want to make sure that the tools we are using are pointing us in biblically sound ways. This is why I created the Bible Study Schoolhouse shop! For almost a year I worked on taking the best tools I got in seminary, and making them available in simple formats for anyone to use.
